What a success!!!!

The 1st Rochester Yarn Crawl was held on Saturday, November 14. Early on Saturday no one knew exactly what to expect, but there was a great sense of expectation. Just before 12:00 noon, people started filling into the four stores participating in the event; Spirit Work, Yarn Boutique, Yarne Source and Village Yarn and Fiber. It was quickly obvious to everyone that this would be an incredibly fun day. Stores saw more people in one day than they have ever seen before, over 220 participants came through their doors. People came from as far as Syracuse, Buffalo and the Finger Lakes area. In each store people patiently stood in long lines to take advantage of the 20% off all in-store yarn and demonstrations. Snacks in each store kept the energy flowing.

At each store participants had the opportunity to participate in raffles for door prizes and the grand prizes of 4 huge baskets stuffed with yarn, patterns, buttons, books, needles and more. The lucky winners were all thrilled with their good fortune.

All comments were very positive, even the anonymous ones! Everyone is now eagerly anticipating next year's event.
A very special thanks to our very generous sponsors and the four local store owners for their participation.

Despite being fallen by illness, the Yarn Crawl team has made great progress in planning the inaugural event.

We have been in contact with vendors that are graciously helping to sponsor the event. What this means is that it will cost the attendees nothing. It doesn’t get any less expensive than that! Some vendors have promised goodies for the raffles. We are hoping to fill our raffle chairperson’s condo with all kind of fiber stuff!

The local yarn stores are thinking about what demos they will offer. Village Yarn on East Rochester will have spinning classes going on and also a shawl on a loom. I have never seen someone work on a loom so now I am trying to figure out how I can visit while I am helping run the event…..

The best news is that all 4 stores will be offering a great sale on their yarn. We are not telling yet but it is between 19% and 21%. (Read between the numbers!)

In the next few weeks we will information at the shops with more specifics and should have the passports available too. Don’t worry if you don’t get one before the 14th, they will be available that day too.

Check back here as we will have updates every week.
